Plans approved for 35-home redevelopment of former Stretford Memorial Hospital

Planning permission has been granted for the redevelopment of the former Stretford Memorial Hospital site in Greater Manchester, paving the way for 35 new homes on the long-vacant brownfield site.

Trafford Council’s Planning Committee unanimously approved proposals for the scheme, which will deliver 29 three and four-bedroom family homes alongside six two-bedroom apartments created through the refurbishment of Basford House, a locally significant heritage building.

The development has been designed to retain and sensitively restore Basford House while transforming the former hospital site into a landscape-led residential neighbourhood. The proposals include extensive public realm and landscaping, preserving the site’s historic character while bringing the vacant land back into productive use.

The scheme has been brought forward by Promenade Estates, with the wider project team including Buttress, LDA Design, Heritage Architecture, Adept Consulting Engineers, Mode Transport, e3p, Orion Heritage, Redmore Environmental and AN Ecology.

A construction start date has not yet been confirmed.
