EDGEPS Appointed Cost Consultant for City of London Mounted Unit Relocation Project

EDGEPS has been appointed as Cost Consultant for the proposed relocation and development of the City of London Police Mounted Unit at Aldgate High Street.

The appointment follows a competitive procurement process undertaken by the City of London Corporation, with EDGEPS securing the contract from a field of seven bidders.

The consultancy commission will support the project through its early feasibility and development stages as plans progress for a new long-term operational base for the Mounted Unit.

Project Overview

The City of London Corporation has identified 52 Aldgate High Street as a preferred location for the future relocation of the City of London Police Mounted Unit.

The proposals involve combining the vacant site at 52 Aldgate with neighbouring properties at 50-51 Aldgate High Street to create a purpose-built facility capable of supporting the operational requirements of the Mounted Unit.

The project is currently in the feasibility and site assessment phase.

Proposed Development

The scheme aims to deliver:

  • New stabling facilities

  • Horse welfare accommodation

  • Operational support facilities

  • Secure access arrangements

  • Horse box parking and manoeuvring space

  • Potential commercial accommodation above the stables, subject to feasibility and viability assessments

The central London location has been identified as strategically important due to its proximity to the Square Mile, allowing rapid deployment for ceremonial duties, crowd management and operational policing activities.
