The long-awaited regeneration of Twickenham Riverside is approaching a major milestone, with enabling works nearing completion and essential infrastructure works set to begin—bringing the scheme closer to full construction.

Richmond Council, alongside main contractor Kier, has been progressing extensive site preparation works in recent months. This has included the demolition of former buildings along King Street and specialist groundworks to prepare the site for development.

With these works largely complete, the project is now transitioning into its next phase. Drainage works are due to commence shortly, installing the underground infrastructure required to support the future buildings, public realm, and flood defence elements of the scheme.

Councillor Gareth Roberts, Leader of Richmond Council, described the progress as a key moment for the development, highlighting that the project is now moving steadily towards the main construction phase.

Councillor Jim Millard, Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Finance, added that the regeneration represents one of the most significant investments in Twickenham town centre in a generation, with visible momentum now building on site.

Once complete, the redevelopment will transform Twickenham’s riverside, delivering new public gardens, terraced lawns, and enhanced pedestrian connections between King Street and the waterfront. The scheme will also include children’s play areas, independent retail and café spaces, and 45 new homes, including affordable housing.

The project is set to create a revitalised riverside destination, enhancing both the local environment and community offering.
