STRABAG has outlined further expansion plans in the UK market, with a proposed acquisition of Van Elle forming a key part of its long-term growth strategy.
The move aligns with the group’s wider Strategy 2030 ambitions, which focus on diversifying its geographic footprint beyond its core Central and Eastern European markets.
🇬🇧 Strengthening UK presence
STRABAG has already established a foothold in the UK through involvement in major infrastructure schemes, including works on HS2 and the Haweswater Aqueduct Replacement Programme (HARP).
Building on this experience, the group is now looking to scale its operations across both infrastructure and building sectors.
🤝 Strategic acquisition
The proposed deal would see STRABAG UK acquire the entire issued share capital of Van Elle through a recommended cash offer.
Van Elle is a well-established player in the UK ground engineering and geotechnical sector, with strong positions across residential, water, and energy markets.
The business employs over 600 people and reported revenues of approximately £130 million in 2025.
📈 Growth and synergies
The acquisition is expected to strengthen STRABAG’s civil engineering capabilities, particularly in ground engineering, while also creating opportunities through complementary client relationships and expanded service offerings.
The combined expertise is anticipated to unlock operational efficiencies and support future growth across key UK sectors.
⚖️ Transaction timeline
The deal is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026, subject to shareholder approval and other regulatory conditions.
It is intended that the transaction will be implemented via a court-approved scheme of arrangement. Following completion, Van Elle is expected to be delisted from London’s AIM market and restructured as a private company.
