RED Construction lands £42m Bristol and Bath office projects

RED Construction Group has been appointed to deliver two office developments worth more than £42m across Bristol and Bath, including a major commercial redevelopment at Portwall Place and the refurbishment of Pinesgate West.

Appointed by BlackRock and development manager LS Estates, RED’s South West division will deliver the flagship Portwall Place scheme in Bristol. The Cat A office redevelopment will provide 150,000 sq ft of workspace across seven floors, alongside a café, gym, communal workspace and what is set to become Bristol’s largest rooftop terrace.

Designed by Buckley Grey Yeoman (BGY), the project also includes façade repairs, more than 7,500 sq ft of terrace space and green roof areas. The all-electric building is targeting EPC A, BREEAM Excellent and NABERS 4.5, with a projected 75% reduction in embodied carbon. Completion is expected by the end of 2027.

RED has also secured the £8m refurbishment of Pinesgate West in Bath on behalf of WPV Developments. Designed by AWW Architects, the scheme will become the new headquarters for engineering consultancy Buro Happold.

Works include replacing the existing façade with a new building envelope to improve energy performance and appearance, alongside the installation of photovoltaic panels, EV charging, cycle storage and a new external terrace. The refurbishment is targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A.

The appointment continues RED South West’s relationship with AWW Architects following the successful delivery of Hollis Wharf in Bath and the Weston Health Hub. It also follows a series of completed projects by the contractor worth more than £65m, including the recently completed Millstream development at the Chocolate Quarter Retirement Village.
