Prologis secures approval for final Phase 2 building at Cambridge Biomedical Campus

Prologis has secured planning committee approval for the final Phase 2 life sciences building at Cambridge Biomedical Campus, bringing forward a further 112,604 sq ft of laboratory and office space.

Subject to formal planning permission, 4000 Discovery Drive will provide 112,604 sq ft of sustainable laboratory and office accommodation across six storeys, supporting hundreds of new jobs within one of the UK’s leading life sciences clusters.

The approval follows the successful delivery of earlier phases, with 1000 Discovery Drive now fully occupied by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and a leading European biotech company. 2000 Discovery Drive is due to complete in September 2026, while 3000 Discovery Drive already has planning permission.

The development forms part of Prologis’ wider £500m Phase 2 investment at Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

Looking ahead, Prologis has also partnered with Cambridgeshire County Council to deliver Phases 3 and 4, which will create a further 2.4 million sq ft of life science research, development and innovation space.

The long-term expansion represents a planned £3bn investment over the next two decades, reinforcing Cambridge’s position as a global centre for life sciences, research and innovation.
