Planning permission and Listed Building Consent have been granted for the conversion of the Grade II-listed Albert Buildings into a new 39-room aparthotel in the City of London.
The scheme, submitted on behalf of Witton Properties Ltd, will bring the long-vacant office building back into active use through the sensitive refurbishment and adaptation of the historic asset.
Plans include a new roof extension, accessibility improvements including a new lift and staircase, upgrades to the ground floor shopfronts, replacement of windows throughout the building and rationalisation of rooftop plant, while retaining the building’s historic character.

The redevelopment aims to secure the long-term future of the listed building while providing new visitor accommodation within the City of London.
The project team includes Rolfe Judd Planning, John Osborn, Nia Jardine, Emrys Architects, Cornwallis Rumley, The Fire Surgery, Velocity, Milieu, Mills Whipp Projects and Auricl.
