McAleer & Rushe has started construction of a £95m hotel development in Edinburgh city centre after MRP secured a pre-let with Dalata Hotel Group and development funding from AIB.
The scheme at 60 Morrison Street will deliver a new 256-bedroom, four-star Clayton Hotel next to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
The project will become Dalata’s second Clayton Hotel in Edinburgh and is being developed by MRP, with McAleer & Rushe appointed as design and build contractor.
The existing six-storey office building will be retained and stripped back to its structural frame before being extended by a further three storeys, creating a new nine-storey hotel.
The completed development will include a restaurant, bar, gym and business facilities.

The scheme is targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A, with the retention and reuse of the existing structure forming a central part of its sustainability strategy.
Development funding has been provided by AIB, while Dalata Hotel Group has agreed the pre-let for the completed hotel.
Construction is now underway, marking the latest project involving MRP, Dalata, McAleer & Rushe and AIB, which have previously worked together on developments across the UK and Ireland.
