MCA launches £1m Modular Facilities Upgrade Programme across Highlands & Islands Coastal Rescue Stations


The Maritime and Coastguard Agency has released a live construction opportunity for the design, supply and installation of modular buildings across remote Coastal Rescue Station (CRS) locations in the Highlands & Islands.


The contract, valued at approximately £1m, forms part of a wider programme to upgrade welfare and operational facilities for His Majesty’s Coastguard (HMCG) teams operating in remote and coastal environments.


The project will be delivered under an open procedure (below threshold) and is suitable for SME contractors with experience in modular construction and remote site delivery.


Scope of works includes:

  • design and delivery of modular building systems

  • installation at remote Coastal Rescue Station locations across the UK

  • welfare and operational facility upgrades for coastguard teams

  • logistical coordination for remote and constrained site access

  • programme delivery across multiple phased installations


The contract is scheduled to commence on 1 July 2026, with completion expected by 30 June 2028.
