A prime Central London office asset is set for transformation after RED Construction Group secured the contract to refurbish The Buckley Building in Clerkenwell.

Located at Clerkenwell Green in Islington, the former 1930s warehouse will be repositioned to deliver 89,000 sq ft of modern office space, blending its industrial heritage with future-ready workspace design.

RED Construction’s London division will deliver the scheme alongside development manager V7, with works including horizontal and vertical extensions to the existing structure, as well as a full Cat A refurbishment of office floors and reception areas.

The project reflects a growing trend across London where developers and landlords are investing heavily into refurbishment over new build, targeting high-quality, sustainable office environments in prime locations.

Leasing agents Compton and CBRE have already been appointed, with early-stage pre-leasing expected to generate strong demand.

The Buckley Building stands out in the Farringdon market due to its rare combination of large 16,000 sq ft floorplates and authentic warehouse character—a mix increasingly sought after by occupiers.

With sustainability and modernisation at the core of the scheme, the refurbishment is expected to reposition the asset as one of the most competitive office offerings in the area.

As refurbishment activity accelerates across Central London, this project underlines how well-located heritage buildings are being reimagined to meet evolving occupier demands.
