Kier starts work on £29m school projects across south Wales

Kier Construction has started work on two new-build schools worth a combined £29 million, delivering modern learning environments in Cowbridge and Sennybridge.
The projects will replace ageing school buildings with new energy-efficient facilities and form part of the Welsh Government's Sustainable Communities for Learning programme.
At Ysgol Iolo Morganwg in Cowbridge, pupil capacity will double from 210 to 420 places, while the development will also include an adult education centre and a Welsh language immersion facility for primary school pupils.
Meanwhile, Sennybridge Community Primary School will be rebuilt as Powys County Council progresses proposals for the school to transition to Welsh-medium education.
Both schemes are jointly funded by the Welsh Government and the respective local authorities as part of a long-term programme to modernise education facilities across Wales.
Ian Rees, Regional Director at Kier Construction Western & Wales, said:
"Starting work on Ysgol Iolo Morganwg and Sennybridge Community Primary School is an important milestone in delivering much-needed, modern learning environments for communities across south Wales."
Construction is now underway on both projects.
