Kier secures ECI roles on Southern Water projects worth almost £500m

Kier has strengthened its position on Southern Water’s AMP8 investment programme after securing two further Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) commissions, taking the potential value of its workload with the utility to almost £500 million.
The latest appointments cover the Hastings Resilience Programme and the Brighton East nitrate removal scheme, both awarded under Southern Water’s £3.1 billion Strategic Delivery Partner framework.
Kier is now supporting 31 ECI projects for Southern Water, with development-phase contracts worth around £104 million. As schemes progress into construction, the total delivery value is expected to exceed £480 million.
The Hastings Resilience Programme, valued at more than £30 million, will improve water treatment processes and strengthen the resilience of the local supply network.
Planned works include upgrades to rapid gravity filters, pumping stations, clear water tanks, disinfection systems and discharge infrastructure at Brede Water Supply Works, alongside resilience improvements at Beauport Water Supply Works.
Meanwhile, the Brighton East scheme will focus on new nitrate removal facilities, network reconfiguration and upgrades to raw water transfer systems serving the Brighton East and Falmer supply network.
The latest awards demonstrate the continued momentum of AMP8 investment, with major opportunities continuing to emerge across the UK water sector for contractors, specialist suppliers and the wider infrastructure supply chain.
