The Government has granted development consent for One Earth Solar Farm, paving the way for one of the UK’s largest renewable energy projects.
The scheme will become the second-largest solar farm in the UK, marking another significant milestone in the Government’s drive to expand low-carbon electricity generation and strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure.
The development will deliver a substantial increase in renewable energy capacity while supporting the UK’s clean energy ambitions.
Construction is expected to include extensive solar arrays, associated electrical infrastructure, grid connection works and supporting site infrastructure.
The approval follows a series of major renewable energy consents issued over the past 12 months as investment in utility-scale solar projects continues to accelerate across the UK.

Once operational, One Earth Solar Farm will make a significant contribution to the UK’s electricity network and forms part of the growing pipeline of nationally significant infrastructure projects supporting the transition to net zero.
Further details on the project timeline, delivery partners and construction programme are expected to follow.
