GBE-N launches £1.08bn search for SMR delivery partner

Great British Energy – Nuclear (GBE-N) has launched a £1.08 billion procurement to appoint a long-term delivery partner for its Small Modular Reactor (SMR) programme, supporting the UK’s next generation of nuclear power projects.

The contract, which could run until 2046, will see the successful partner provide technical, commercial and programme management expertise to help plan, coordinate and deliver the Government’s ambitious SMR rollout.

The delivery partner will play a central role in programme management, infrastructure delivery, engineering support, commercial management and risk management, working alongside GBE-N to drive collaboration across the supply chain and ensure value for money throughout the programme.

The procurement will progress through a selection stage, competitive dialogue, tender evaluation and due diligence before a preferred bidder is appointed.

Interested organisations have until 6 August 2026 to submit tenders.

The launch marks another major milestone for the UK’s nuclear ambitions, with Small Modular Reactors expected to play a key role in strengthening energy security, supporting net zero targets and creating significant opportunities across the construction, engineering and manufacturing supply chain over the coming decades.
