Galliford Try Secures £39m Contract for Major SEND School Development in East London

Galliford Try has secured a £39 million contract to deliver one of the UK’s largest specialist education facilities after successfully completing the pre-construction phase of the project.


The London Borough of Havering has awarded the main works contract for the new Balgores SEND School in Gidea Park through the Southern Construction Framework 5.


The project will create a purpose-built facility providing specialist education for up to 300 children and young people aged between four and 19.


Project Overview

The new Balgores SEND School will provide specialist facilities for pupils with:

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs


At more than 6,000 sq m, the development is expected to become one of the largest SEND schools in the UK.


The facility has been designed to help address increasing demand for specialist education provision across East London.
