Farrans has been appointed to deliver new passenger skylink walkways at London Stansted Airport as part of the airport’s wider transformation programme.
The new structures will create direct pedestrian connections between the main terminal and existing satellite buildings housing departure and arrival gates.
Their construction will allow Stansted’s existing track transit people mover system to be decommissioned, freeing up space for future phases of terminal expansion towards the airfield.
The skylinks will include passenger travelators and will also accommodate assistance buggies for passengers with reduced mobility.

Construction is due to begin later this summer, with sections of the skylinks pre-assembled offsite in a vacant airport hangar on the north side of the airfield.
Completed sections will then be transported overnight across the airfield using self-propelled modular transporters, helping to minimise disruption to airport operations.
Farrans has already worked with Stansted through the design, planning and enabling stages of the project and will now move into the main construction phase.
