EMEC launches £1.56m tidal energy substation package in Orkney

European Marine Energy Centre has released a live tender for the design and installation of a 4.8MW onshore substation supporting tidal energy infrastructure on the island of Eday, Orkney.
The contract, valued at approximately £1.56m, forms part of ongoing renewable and marine energy infrastructure investment across the Orkney Islands.
The project will involve the full design, procurement, installation and commissioning of a new onshore tidal generation substation at the Fall of Warness site in Eday.
Scope of works includes:

site layout design
civil design for the substation
electrical design for lighting and small power circuits
balance of plant electrical design
earthing system design

construction of substation buildings
foundations for SSEN shunt reactor
