West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has signed contracts with Dragados to develop detailed designs for the replacement West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.
The international contractor will work alongside the Trust and the Government’s New Hospital Programme as the scheme moves into its next design and development stage.
The proposed hospital will be built at Hardwick Manor, where the Trust has already acquired the site and secured outline planning permission.

Dragados will now help progress the detailed design, building on consultation carried out with hospital staff, patients and local communities.
The project has already passed several key milestones, including the preparation of initial hospital designs and the purchase of the development site.
An outline business case is expected to be submitted later this year.
Subject to the required approvals, construction of the replacement hospital is expected to begin between 2027 and 2028
