Development is gathering pace on a major regeneration scheme set to transform a key area of Wolverhampton into a vibrant new mixed-use neighbourhood.

The project, known as Smithgate, is being delivered by Muse through its partnership with City of Wolverhampton Council and development joint venture ECF.

The regeneration will create up to 1,000 new homes, including affordable housing, alongside shops, cafés, restaurants and high-quality public spaces in the heart of the city centre.

Plans for the neighbourhood have already received planning approval, with the first phase expected to deliver more than 300 homes, including build-to-rent and affordable housing, alongside new retail opportunities and enhanced public spaces.

The wider masterplan aims to transform underused brownfield land near Market Square into a vibrant new district where people can live, work and socialise. The development is also expected to boost city centre footfall and support new business activity across Wolverhampton.

Once complete, the scheme will provide a mix of residential, commercial and leisure spaces designed to strengthen the city centre and support long-term economic growth.
