CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON NEW MILITARY FACILITIES AT MARNE BARRACKS, CATTERICK

Construction has officially commenced on new accommodation and operational facilities at Marne Barracks, Catterick, as part of the British Army’s Defence Estate Optimisation (DEO) Programme.

The project will prepare the site for the relocation of 21 Engineer Regiment from Claro Barracks in Ripon, with completion scheduled for the end of 2027.

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has appointed Morgan Sindall to deliver the scheme, which will provide modern living, training and operational facilities for Army personnel.

Development Details

The project includes:

• 205 new and refurbished single living accommodation bedspaces

• New workshop for the Light Aid Detachment

• Garaging facilities

• Refurbishment of five existing buildings

The investment forms part of the wider Defence Estate Optimisation Programme, which aims to modernise military infrastructure across the UK while improving operational capability and accommodation standards.
