Caddick appointed to deliver £50m Southport extra care housing scheme

Caddick Construction has been appointed to deliver Torus Homes’ £50 million Blowick Moss Lane development in Southport, bringing forward 141 new extra care homes designed to support independent living for older residents.

The scheme will comprise 118 apartments within the main extra care building, alongside 18 independent living apartments across two separate buildings and five mews houses.

Communal facilities and shared spaces will also be created to promote wellbeing, independence and social interaction.

Supported by more than £11 million of funding from Homes England, the development will place sustainability at the forefront of its design.

The homes will be built without gas, instead using electric panel heaters, hot water heat pump cylinders and solar panels to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Caddick secured the contract through Torus’ Contractors Framework, which was established in 2025 to streamline the delivery of housing and retrofit projects across the North West.

The appointment further strengthens Caddick Construction’s growing presence in the affordable and supported housing sector, while contributing to the delivery of much-needed specialist accommodation across the region.
