Bovis has signed the contract to deliver the redevelopment of North Manchester General Hospital, including a new 598-bed acute hospital and standalone outpatient facility.
The project forms part of the Government’s New Hospital Programme and will be delivered for Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust across the existing 28-hectare hospital site.
Bovis will construct the new acute hospital and outpatient centre, alongside refurbishment works to retained buildings across the estate.
The scheme is being developed using the Hospital 2.0 Model, which combines standardised design, digital technology and modern methods of construction to improve productivity, quality and programme certainty.

Bovis will work alongside the Trust, the Hospital 2.0 Alliance and New Hospital Programme partners to develop the design and identify further delivery efficiencies.
Subject to the necessary approvals, construction of the new outpatient centre is expected to begin in 2027, with the facility targeted to open to patients by summer 2029.
The wider programme will also support employment, apprenticeships and training opportunities across Greater Manchester.
