Bellway acquires land for 300-home Bedfordshire development

Bellway has acquired a 42-acre site in Bromham, Bedfordshire, paving the way for a new residential development of more than 300 homes.

The land, purchased from Rainier Developments, already benefits from outline planning permission and will deliver a mix of private and affordable housing, with 30% of the homes allocated as affordable.

As part of the development, Bellway will provide land for a new GP surgery, alongside significant public open space, play areas, walking and cycling routes, while retaining and enhancing existing trees and hedgerows.

The housebuilder will also contribute more than £4.5 million towards local infrastructure, including education, healthcare, transport and road improvements. A further £4.5 million will be invested through the Community Infrastructure Levy.

Bellway is expected to submit a reserved matters planning application to Bedford Borough Council later this year, with construction targeted to begin next spring, subject to planning approval.

The acquisition marks Bellway’s first land deal with Rainier Developments and represents another significant housing scheme helping to meet demand for new homes across Bedfordshire.
