Balfour Beatty secures £83m contract for new Forres Academy in Scotland


Balfour Beatty has been awarded an £83m contract by Hub North Scotland to deliver the new Forres Academy on behalf of Moray Council.


The project will see the construction of a new 12,143 sq m secondary school campus in Moray, replacing the existing academy and providing capacity for approximately 1,120 students.


Works are expected to commence imminently, with completion targeted for 2029.


Project Overview

The new education facility will be delivered in line with the Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme Phase 3 requirements and will provide a modern, energy-efficient learning environment for students, staff and the wider community.


The development will include:

  • New 12,143 sq m secondary school building

  • 3G artificial grass sports pitch

  • Car parking and external works

  • Associated infrastructure and landscaping

  • Modern teaching, learning and community facilities


The project represents a significant investment in education infrastructure within Moray and continues a programme of school estate improvements across the region.
