£8m Humber Bridge Upgrade Scheme Released to Market

The Humber Bridge Board has launched a major £8 million tender seeking a contractor to design and deliver a significant structural upgrade programme on the Humber Bridge.

The project will see the replacement of the existing A-Frame rocker bearing systems at both the Hessle and Barton anchorages, supporting the long-term performance and resilience of one of the UK's most recognisable infrastructure assets.

The scheme is being procured through an open procedure and includes the potential for additional future works.

Project Overview

The Humber Bridge Board is seeking to appoint a contractor to undertake the detailed design and construction of replacement anchorage support systems on both sides of the bridge.

The project involves developing an existing conceptual design into a fully detailed engineering solution.

The works will replace the existing anchorage A-Frames with:

  • Vertically orientated pendels

  • Wind shoe systems

  • Associated structural and engineering works

  • Installation works at both Hessle and Barton anchorages

The replacement system must accommodate all existing load, movement and translation requirements currently managed by the bridge structure.
