The Gym Group is accelerating its nationwide expansion strategy with plans to open 75 new gyms across the UK over the next three years.
The operator, which currently runs more than 260 locations nationwide, is targeting between 20 and 22 additional openings during 2026 as demand for affordable fitness and wellness facilities continues to grow.
Working alongside Savills, The Gym Group is actively searching for sites ranging from 5,000 sq ft to 20,000 sq ft across multiple property sectors.
The business said it remains flexible on location and format, considering opportunities across:
Retail parks
Mixed-use developments
High street sites
Alternative commercial spaces
Industrial units
According to the company, limited availability across traditional retail park locations has encouraged a broader acquisition strategy, with industrial and repurposed commercial spaces increasingly being considered for future gyms.
The expansion reflects continued growth across the UK fitness and wellness market, alongside evolving consumer demand for larger strength-focused training areas and more flexible gym layouts.
Recent openings have incorporated updated formats featuring expanded strength equipment zones, improved layouts and enhanced training functionality designed around changing member preferences.
The Gym Group said future sites will prioritise visibility, transport connectivity and accessibility as it continues scaling its UK leisure property footprint.
