Plans submitted for 526-home residential towers at Birmingham’s Arena Central

Plans have been submitted by Kier Property for a major new residential development that will complete the final phase of Birmingham’s Arena Central masterplan.

The proposed Bridge Street scheme will deliver 526 build-to-rent homes across two towers of 30 and 17 storeys, located on plots four and five just south of Centenary Square.

Designed by TP Bennett, the 30-storey tower is set to become the tallest building within Arena Central, marking a significant addition to Birmingham’s rapidly evolving skyline.

The development will provide a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, alongside a strong focus on amenity-led living. Plans include resident lounges, co-working spaces, dining areas, gyms and cinema rooms, reflecting continued demand within the build-to-rent sector.

The 17-storey building will also incorporate ground-floor retail and commercial space, adding further mixed-use activity to the scheme.

Arena Central, which spans 10 plots, has already delivered a series of major developments including 1 Centenary Square, home to HSBC UK’s headquarters. The Bridge Street proposals represent the final piece of the masterplan and a key step in completing the regeneration of this central Birmingham district.

If approved, the scheme is expected to generate further opportunities across the construction and supply chain as the project progresses through planning and into delivery.
