Persimmon secures approval for first 161 homes at major Trowbridge scheme

Persimmon Homes has secured approval for its reserved matters application, paving the way for the first 161 homes at the Ashton Park development in Trowbridge.

The milestone marks the next phase of a much larger scheme being delivered in partnership with Barratt Redrow, which will see up to 2,500 homes built to the south-east of the town.

📊 Major infrastructure and investment

The wider development will deliver significant infrastructure and funding contributions, including:

  • £36.5m relief road, including a new section of the A350

  • £25.6m in developer contributions

  • £7.5m Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for local projects

  • £5.4m allocated for off-site affordable housing

In addition, 27% of homes will be delivered as affordable housing on-site in partnership with local providers.

🏡 Long-term delivery

The Ashton Park scheme represents a major long-term residential expansion for the area, supporting housing demand while delivering transport upgrades and community investment.

Persimmon Homes already has an active presence across Wiltshire, with developments in Chippenham, Warminster and Hilperton, and is now preparing to move forward with construction on this first phase.

🧠 What this means

With infrastructure-led developments like this progressing, schemes of this scale typically unlock:

  • groundworks and civils packages

  • highways and infrastructure delivery

  • utilities and drainage

  • housing build phases and supply chain opportunities

As the project moves towards site activity, further opportunities across the supply chain are expected.
