Stanhope has appointed Mace Construct as main contractor for the Red Lion Court development, a major new office scheme on London’s South Bank.
The landmark project will deliver a 250,000 sq ft office tower with a gross development value of £450m. Enabling and piling works are already underway, with the main construction phase scheduled to begin in Q4 2026 and completion targeted for early 2029.
The appointment follows Stanhope’s acquisition of the site in September 2025 in partnership with Cheyne Capital, reflecting confidence in continued demand for high-quality, sustainable office space in central London despite constrained market supply.
Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, the scheme will be delivered across a 1.24-acre site and comprise two basement levels and 11 storeys above ground. The development will provide approximately 249,500 sq ft of flexible office space, alongside 1,000 sq ft of café space.
A strong focus has been placed on occupier experience, with four terraces overlooking the River Thames, as well as a range of amenities including a club room and wellness centre. The building will also feature extensive end-of-trip facilities, including 473 cycle spaces and 54 showers, alongside improvements to the surrounding public realm.
Located between London Bridge and Southwark Bridge, the scheme benefits from excellent transport connectivity and sits within the established Bankside district, close to key amenities such as Borough Market, Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe.
The project is set to become a significant addition to London’s commercial landscape, delivering premium office space in a prime riverside location.
