A new tender opportunity worth up to £1m has been released for specialist steelworks as part of a major tunnel renewals programme in London.
The contract, published under procurement reference C4N109606810, forms part of the H7 Renewals portfolio and focuses on works within a confined tunnel environment.
The scope includes a range of structural and remedial works, with contractors required to undertake steelwork replacement, treatment of corroded sections, and installation works within restricted undercroft areas.
Additional elements of the project involve handling approximately 5.5 tonnes of steel, propping and replacing structural components within the tunnel bore, as well as grouting baseplates and removing existing steelwork.
Sustainability is also a key consideration, with contractors expected to explore opportunities around the circular economy and repurposing of steel materials.
The contract is scheduled to run from February 2027 through to June 2027, offering a short-term but technically demanding package of works.
Importantly, the opportunity has been flagged as suitable for both SMEs and VCSEs, opening the door for a wide range of specialist contractors to get involved.
The tender closes on 6 April 2026, meaning interested parties will need to act quickly to submit their applications.
