Developer Linear Living has submitted plans for a 24-storey residential scheme delivering 251 homes in Manchester’s Green Quarter.
The proposed development will transform a long-vacant site bounded by Cheetham Hill Road, Lord Street and Fernie Street, which previously housed retail and commercial units.
Scheme Overview
The development will include a mix of homes designed to support a range of residents, featuring:
251 residential units in total
Four townhouses
Seven adaptable homes, including wheelchair-accessible apartments
The scheme aims to deliver high-quality, inclusive city centre living, aligned with Manchester’s wider regeneration ambitions.
Supporting Regeneration in the Green Quarter
The site sits adjacent to the Strangeways and Cambridge Strategic Regeneration Framework, a major long-term initiative led by Manchester and Salford councils.
The wider framework is expected to deliver:
Over 7,000 new homes
New public realm and employment spaces
Long-term regeneration over the next 30 years
Two residential schemes opposite the site have already received planning approval, highlighting growing development momentum in the area.
Timeline
Subject to planning approval, Linear Living is targeting:
Start on site: Before the end of 2026
Completion: Early 2029
The project is being positioned as a gateway scheme, contributing to the transformation of the Green Quarter and setting the tone for future development in the area.
