McLaren Construction appointed on Sizewell C framework to deliver key site projects

McLaren Construction has been appointed as construction management partner on a three-year framework for the Sizewell C nuclear project in Suffolk.

Under the agreement, McLaren will oversee and coordinate the delivery of several key schemes, including a new post-16 college, temporary accommodation campus and amenity buildings, alongside a project office and emergency response facility.

The appointment forms part of the wider delivery strategy for Sizewell C, one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects, with construction activity continuing to ramp up on site.

McLaren’s Construction Management and Specialist Projects division will initially support the delivery of accommodation and amenity buildings, which will play a key role in supporting the project’s growing workforce.

The framework also includes delivery of the “College on the Coast” in Leiston — a new education facility aimed at improving access to training and skills in the local area.

Sizewell C is already generating substantial economic activity, with more than £3bn in contracts awarded to over 400 UK suppliers to date. Around £1bn of this has been spent within the local East Suffolk region.

More than 2,000 people are currently working on site, with the project expected to support nearly 9,000 jobs annually throughout the construction phase.

With over 70% of total construction spend set to go to UK businesses, the scheme continues to present significant long-term opportunities across the supply chain.
