Lidl targets 100+ new UK locations as £600m expansion gathers pace

Lidl GB has unveiled a list of more than 100 target locations across the UK, signalling continued momentum in its store expansion strategy.

The retailer is actively seeking freehold, leasehold and long leasehold opportunities across a wide geographic spread, from Aberdeen and London to Wales and the South East. A competitive finder’s fee is also being offered for sites that lead to successful development.

The move builds on Lidl’s ongoing investment in its UK estate, with plans already in place to open more than 50 new stores over the next 12 months as part of a £600m programme.

New stores are typically delivered through efficient, standardised formats, allowing for faster construction, cost control and flexibility across a range of site conditions. Sustainability is also a growing focus, with energy-efficient designs, solar panels and EV charging increasingly incorporated into new developments.

Alongside its new build pipeline, Lidl continues to invest in refurbishments and extensions across its existing estate, while expanding its logistics infrastructure to support further growth.

The retailer recently passed a major milestone with the opening of its 1,000th UK store and remains one of the most active developers in the food retail sector.

For the construction and property market, Lidl’s latest requirements highlight continued demand for well-located retail development opportunities across the UK.
