Kori Construction has been appointed by Care UK to deliver a new purpose-built 64-bed care home in Mitcham, marking the fourth project delivered between the two organisations.
The development will involve demolition of the existing building on site before construction begins on the new three-storey care facility.
Designed to support residential, nursing and dementia care, the scheme will provide specialist accommodation focused on resident wellbeing, accessibility and community living.
The development will include:
En-suite wet room bedrooms
Resident lounges and dining areas
Activity rooms on each floor
Café and cinema/bar facilities
Hairdresser and assisted bathrooms
Staff welfare and changing facilities
Ground floor residents will also benefit from direct access to landscaped gardens and private patio areas, with wider external works including accessible pathways and raised planting features.
Architecturally, the scheme will feature a contemporary mix of buff brick, grey cladding and weatherboarding designed to complement the surrounding residential area.
The project responds to increasing demand for specialist elderly care provision within the Mitcham area, particularly for nursing and dementia services.
According to the project team, the development is expected to generate more than £13m in social value through local employment, investment and community engagement during both construction and operation.
