Energetik Launches £9.5m District Heating Network Extension Tender in Enfield

Lee Valley Heat Network Operating Company Limited, trading as Energetik, has launched a £9.5m tender for the design and construction of two major extensions to its Meridian Water Heat Network in Enfield.
The project will extend the existing district heating network through two new sections, known as the Northern Extension and Western Extension, connecting schools and community facilities across the borough. The works include the installation of approximately 3.4km of district heating pipework, associated infrastructure, commissioning and integration with the existing network.
The Western Extension will run from Church Street near Edmonton Green to Winchmore School and Edmonton County School, while the Northern Extension will extend from Ponders End High Street near Ponders End Park to Capital City College and Waverley School.
The successful contractor will be responsible for design, delivery and installation of the network, including pipework, leak detection systems, hydraulic testing, commissioning and liaison with Enfield Highways. The majority of the pipework has already been procured from Logstor and is currently being stored in Denmark.
Pre-construction activities are expected to commence by September 2026, with construction targeted to begin in January 2027, subject to planning approval and highway licences. Practical completion is required by 31 March 2028.
The contract is valued at £9.5m excluding VAT and forms part of Energetik's wider programme to expand low-carbon heat infrastructure across the London Borough of Enfield.
