Caddick Construction targets East Midlands growth with senior appointment

Caddick Construction has appointed Paul Sykes as Regional Managing Director for the East Midlands, signalling a strategic move to expand its presence across the region.

Sykes joins from Bowmer + Kirkland, where he spent over three decades progressing through the business to a senior leadership role, most recently leading its North West operations.

A quantity surveyor by background, Sykes has delivered a range of high-profile schemes throughout his career, including major Midlands projects such as the £100m+ St George’s Park National Football Centre in Burton-upon-Trent and the Derby Arena velodrome at Pride Park.

In his new role, he will work alongside Regional Managing Director Ray O’Sullivan to drive Caddick’s expansion into the East Midlands, building on the strong foundations established in the West Midlands since the business launched there in 2023.

Construction has already secured a significant pipeline in the Midlands, with approximately £1bn of opportunities and a forward order book of £300m.

The expansion strategy will focus on key private sector markets including:

  • Industrial and logistics

  • High-rise residential

  • Commercial office development

The business is also targeting further public sector opportunities, supported by its position on major frameworks such as the Department for Education’s £15bn Construction Framework 2025.

Sykes said he is joining the business at a pivotal stage of growth, with a focus on building strong teams and supporting long-term regional expansion.

Group Managing Director Paul Dodsworth added that the appointment represents an important step in strengthening Caddick’s regional footprint, positioning the business for continued growth across the Midlands.
