Brighton plan £80m women’s stadium in UK-first move

Brighton & Hove Albion has unveiled plans to deliver what would be Europe’s first purpose-built women’s football stadium, with an estimated cost of £75m–£80m.

The proposed 10,000-capacity venue will be located at Bennett’s Field, adjacent to the club’s Amex Stadium, and connected via a new bridge walkway. A planning application is currently being prepared, with the club targeting an opening ahead of the 2030–31 season.

Designed specifically for the women’s game, the stadium will provide a permanent home for Brighton’s women’s team, supporting long-term growth in attendance, participation and performance.

The scheme will include elite-level facilities tailored to female athletes, including upgraded changing rooms, recovery areas and high-spec pitch standards. The wider design also places a strong emphasis on fan experience, with family-friendly features such as baby changing facilities, dedicated social spaces and improved accessibility.

In addition to hosting first-team fixtures, the stadium is expected to support academy and development matches, strengthening the club’s pathway for emerging talent.

The project represents a significant step forward for women’s sport infrastructure in the UK, reflecting growing investment and ambition within the game.
