£1.1m changing pavilion scheme awarded in Wednesbury

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council has awarded a £1.15m contract for the construction of a new changing pavilion at Hydes Road, Wednesbury.

The project will see the delivery of a single-storey facility designed to support local leisure and sports use, with works set to begin in June 2026 and complete by February 2027.

Appointed contractor E Manton Limited will deliver the scheme, which includes brick and block cavity construction on a reinforced concrete raft foundation, alongside a pitched tiled roof and aluminium external doors.

Internally, the building will provide changing facilities, sanitaryware, kitchen space and associated furniture, supported by full mechanical and electrical installations.

The scope of works also includes contractor-designed elements such as ground remediation, roof trusses, beam and block flooring and M&E services.

External works will cover drainage, fencing and minor landscaping, completing the wider site infrastructure.

The project represents continued investment in local community and leisure infrastructure across the region.
