Breck Homes agrees deal for 136-home affordable housing scheme in Huyton

Breck Homes has exchanged contracts with the Archdiocese of Liverpool to acquire a 6.7-acre brownfield site in Huyton, paving the way for a proposed 136-home affordable housing development.

The site, located next to St Dominic’s Church on Southdean Road, was previously home to St Dominic’s RC Primary School, which closed in 2011. Subject to planning approval, the long-vacant land will be transformed into a new residential community featuring energy-efficient homes, apartments, landscaped public open space and improved green infrastructure.

The proposed development will deliver a mix of one to four-bedroom houses alongside one and two-bedroom apartments, helping to address affordable housing demand across the Liverpool City Region.

The purchase remains conditional on planning consent being granted by Knowsley Council, with construction currently expected to begin in spring 2027.

As part of the planning process, Breck Homes will host a public consultation event on 16 July, giving local residents the opportunity to view the proposals and provide feedback before the scheme progresses.

If approved, the project will create future opportunities across groundworks, infrastructure, housing construction, utilities, landscaping and the wider supply chain as the development moves towards delivery.
